Job Description

Afni is hiring a Manager, Desktop Engineering who is responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, and overall lifecycle of all Desktop Engineering technologies and architecture. In this role, you will plan large scale infrastructure projects through vendor comparison, cost studies, or formal RFPs. It requires demonstrated leadership and proven ability to implement advanced support processes consistent with customer needs, organizational objectives and technology resources.

What you will be doing:

  • Coordinate, delegate and manage Desktop Engineering related projects and/or support efforts that are driven by internal or external business partners/clients. 
  • Initiate dialog, develop relationships and collaborate with IT and business partners to assure alignment with execution of strategic project and support initiatives. 
  • Responsible for the design, development, and support of the desktop architecture and implementation of new infrastructure or services; maintenance of existing systems, ensure that proper best practice and security procedures are followed. 
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to subordinates. 
  • Works directly with external business partners and clients to resolve interoperability issues pertaining to any connectivity or solution required for Afni to perform any business process. 
  • Standardize and implement processes for the technical environment to maximize vendor relationships and staff training needs. 
  • Identifies deficiencies of both technical issues and business processes, elevates risk to management, and proposes innovative solutions to address issue. 
  • Analyze established KPI, productivity and efficiencies of the support and project teams in order to assist management team in maximizing the functionality of department and staffing requirements to maximize productivity.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field plus 10 years of experience in the field of Desktop Engineering or relevant field.
  • Previous formal education/training in management topics preferred
  • Experience in client relations preferred
  • Citrix Certified Professional -- Virtualization is required
  • Citrix Certified Expert -- Virtualization is preferred
  • Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE and/or the ISC CISSP certification is highly desired 
  • ITIL Foundations certification is highly desired
  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, employee development, appraising performance and growth plans, rewarding and disciplining employees is required
  • Experience in designing extremely complex enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure is required
  • Experience in administrating resource planning and control, conducting risk assessments, and preparing and forecasting accurate annual budgets is required
  • Previous project management experience including research, analysis and implementation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and the ability to work with shifting priorities are preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills (negotiation, team-building, positive thinking, can-do attitude, and job flexibility) are preferred.
  • Must be an assertive team player with positive attitude and high energy level
